Annie Perkins, the Senior Director for Strategic Partnerships at the Sustainable Forestry Initiative, explains how humans spend the majority of their time indoors, and how this has causes a disconnect between them and nature.

She discusses biophilic design, which works to combat this disconnect: “Vibrant timber cities really bring wood and nature back into where we are in urban settings, in addition to helping rural communities, as they help provide timber and wood products for urban growth.”

The connections between where we live, work, learn, and play, and our quality of life are undeniable. How has the pandemic impacted your impression of green building and its impact on human health and wellbeing? What are you doing to ensure others can make these connections and how are you working together to build healthier spaces for all? Share your story.
